In 1998 we published our first Annual Report and in other news that year:

• Pope John Paul II visited Cuba
• The Queen Mother, aged 97, had a hip replacement
• Bill Clinton faced allegations of sexual harassment
• The Full Monty was Best Film at the BAFTAs

Meanwhile…. Here at VANL:

• We participated in over a dozen partnerships, both rural and urban, convening several and chairing others.
• We had our first Payroll client
• We trained 10 new volunteers to drive the community minibus
• We provided 52 individuals and 29 organisations with information
• Apna Sahara expanded its service with additional translation services
