1. Investigation Training

ACAS (Grimsby) are holding an Investigation Training Course on 24th April suitable for any HR professionals who are required to conduct investigations as part of their role. For more information see https://obs.acas.org.uk/ViewEvent.aspx?EventId=196547

2. Hearing Voices Support Group

Do you suffer from Psychosis, Hearing Voices or other Sensory or Tactile Hallucinations? If so there is a new Support Group being hosted by Scunthorpe and District Mind  – for more information please call 01724 279500.

3. Heritage Funding Available

The Heritage Lottery Fund are calling for more applications – they provide Funding from between £3,000 to £100,000 – suitable for Town and Parish Councils or building funds and other heritage projects. Please see attached flier for more details on workshops in May and June to help you apply.

4. NALC (National Association of Local Councils)

NACL have produced a toolkit for any local council wishing to work on devolution in their area. More information is available from their website http://www.nalc.gov.uk – this is particularly aimed at those wishing to bring power to communities and is also relevant to those whose communities have a vibrant Voluntary and Community Sector. Some VCS organisations will find this toolkit of relevance too.

5. Code of Fundraising Practice update

For organisations involved in Fundraising please be advised that the Fundraising Regulator has opened consultation on the Code of Fundraising Practice. For more information or to submit comments please see their website https://www.fundraisingregulator.org.uk

6. Stay Legal, Stay Updated

A useful resource for anyone involved in charity administration including employment and licensing issues can be found at http://www.sandy-a.co.uk/legal.htm – the mailing list contains regular updates and briefings on matters of interest to the sector.

7.Charity Commission Updates

The Charity Commission are urging the public to be vigilant with regards to fundraising appeals for the current East Africa Crisis Appeal. Further guidance is given on their website at www.charitycommission.gov.uk

In a recent Press release too the Charity Commission has appealed to Charity Trustees to ‘get to grips’ with Financial Management and Trusteeship issues – a range of helpful publications can be downloaded by going to the website, and you can also sign up at their website for regular briefings with guildance included.

8. VANL Training
