Calling for YOUR NOMINATIONS for the Ian McPherson Award
Do you know of Volunteers who make a REAL difference in your community? If so, VANL are again seeking nominations for the Ian McPherson Award for outstanding contribution to community.
Ian was a Board member of VANL and a great contributor to a number of other organisations in the community until his premature death.
Ian gave his time and skills freely and without reserve or a desire to be recognised for his voluntary work, and in so doing made a real difference to the organisations, communities and individuals he had contact with. In short an unsung hero.
Everyone at VANL recognise there are many such ‘unsung heroes’ in our communities, who work equally tirelessly and often without recognition, or any desire to be recognised. However we believe that such dedication should be recognised and celebrated.
It is important for volunteers to have their efforts recognised so this award has been developed to highlight the excellent work, commitment, and dedication of volunteers in our communities. This is a chance for individuals and the organisations they represent to receive recognition for the difference they make to people’s lives and to inspire and encourage others to make a contribution to volunteering. The recipient must be a person nominated from a member VANL organisation.
We would like your support by inviting your organisation to nominate a member of your organisation that you feel should be recognised for their commitment to volunteering.
If you have such a person in membership, you can fill in the attached form, download a nomination for the Award from our VANL website, or just contact the office and we will gladly email you one or post it out to you. Please return your nomination marked FAO Liz Crowston at the above address or email to email@example.com by Wednesday 4 October 2017
The decision will be made by an independent Panel, and the Award will be presented at our AGM, which this year is being held on 19 October 2017 at Westcliff Community Centre, Newbolt Avenue, Scunthorpe. Please note: VANL Board members and staff are excluded from being nominated for their volunteering activities, but can nominate a member of the organisation they volunteer for or a person from another organisation they feel should be nominated, with permission from the group.
