2005 – changing times
2005 saw a number of changes to what had previously been expected to be the norm, with new developments in science and other fields:
- On July 7th coordinated bombings in London killed 50 and injured 700
- Adriana Illescu from Romania became the world’s oldest birth mother at 66
- The world’s largest commercial jet, Airbus A380, was unveiled in France
- HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, announced his engagement to Camilla Parker-Bowles
- The UK version of The Apprenctice with Alan Sugar aired for the first time on the BBC
- Dr Who returned to British TV with Christopher Eccleston in the title role
And at VANL:
- Work had begin towards the establishment of a Volunteer Bureau
- Our Laneham Street building was sold
- Staff were allocated to establish community information points in villages around Brigg and Barton
- Fresh Start, a partnership project, recruited two new staff
