2002 – a year of growth
2002 was a year of change in the world generally and here at VANL was no exception.
- Westlife had their tenth number 1 hit
- The UN froze the assets of Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda and the remaining members of the Taliban
- The US invaded Afghanistan
- Swiss Citizens voted against joining the UN
- Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, died
- Star Wars, Episode 2, Attack of the Clones was released
2002 saw a great deal of growth and change:
- 37 new members joined VANL
- 70 Volunteers were placed in CVOs
- We had three external offices in Isle, Brigg and Barton
- Our minibus was in great demand with more volunteer drivers being trained
- The Children’s Fund Local Network was established
- Due to increased service demand, a Finance Manager was appointed
