Your rights and responsibilities
Wherever you decide to volunteer, you have rights and you have responsibilities. As a volunteer, you are a person who has decided, of their own free will, to contribute your time and skills, free of charge, with the aim of benefiting others in the community.
Your rights:
- To be treated fairly and with respect
- To be appreciated
- To do something that interests you and which benefits others
- To know your specific rights and responsibilities within the organisation you volunteer for
- To be kept safe whilst volunteering through placement organisation policies and procedures
- To be covered by adequate insurance cover

- To be offered relevant support and development opportunities
- To have your confidentiality respected
- To receive continued support by the vinvolved team
- To enjoy your volunteering experience
Your responsibilities:
- To be reliable and punctual
- To be honest at all times
- To ask for help if you need it
- To treat everyone fairly and with respect
- To respect confidentiality
- To attend induction, support and training sessions offered to you
- To work within the policies and procedures of your placement organisation
- To behave in an appropriate manner at all times, including no physical or abusive behaviour and no alcohol or drug use.
