Community Interest Group

  • Does your community group provide services?
  • Do you put on entertainment or social events?
  • Do you need publicity?
  • Do you want to involve other community groups in what you are doing?
  • Do you need volunteers?

For any or all of these needs, you need to join the CIG!

A service to voluntary and community groups operating in the North Lincolnshire area, the CIG is a network for publicity.

The group used to meet monthly, until everyone became too busy to attend, but in any case there has always been the facility to email in news items for publication. All members of the group receive news emails – usually weekly, sometimes more, sometimes less – and the email contains links to the new items on the VANL website.

If you have something to report, send as much detail as you can to CIG at VANL, preferably with a picture which is either copyright-free or which you own the copyright for (and it will be checked if it’s not clear) and we will do our best to include it in the next mailshot. The service cannot be guaranteed, as other things sometimes get in the way of publicising items, but if it is important to you, then ring and we will try to prioritise it. Please be sure to give at least a week’s notice, preferably two to allow for publication and circulation.

At the time of writing, there have been consistently 200 members on the CIG List (give or take half a dozen) for some time. This number includes press, statutory authorities and lots of voluntary organisations. Mailshots go to all members and are copied onto Facebook and Twitter, so your news story will reach a very reasonable audience. Many tweets are retweeted and Facebook posts are shared, making the audience even larger.

To join the CIG, send an email to be added to the list. If you then find the service is not what you expected, just reply to the last mailing and ask to be removed from the list.

Charges

Due to the current economic climate, VANL unfortunately now has to make charges for some of the Community Interest Group services. While members of the CIG will continue to receive mailings free of charge, some postings will require payment.
