Rural Partnership Plus - support for rural voluntary and community groups
The Rural Partnership Plus project exists to support rural voluntary and community groups to thrive and grow. It does this in two ways: firstly by ensuring that groups have access to the support and advice they need and secondly by enabling them to make their voices heard locally, regionally and nationally.
Celia Wangler is the Development Worker for Northern Lincolnshire, she works in North and North East Lincolnshire and is based at the VANL office in Barton. Celia is available to meet with any voluntary or community group, and will come out to the group. She will work through an “organisation health check” which will help to pin point issues for development, and will either the support groups herself or find them specialist support and advice.
Celia works closely with the Northern Lincolnshire Rural Partnership and other local bodies and works with the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Rural Network (http://www.yorkshirehumberforum.org.uk/regionalruralnetwork/index.php ) to ensure that the voice of community groups are heard.
The Project is funded by The Big Lottery’s Building and Sustaining Infrastructure Services (BASIS) programme, which aims to ensure that voluntary and community sector organisations have access to high quality support that will help them be more effective. BASIS projects will achieve this through providing voluntary and community sector organisations (VCSOs) with access to - a range of resources, knowledge / information, opportunities to influence policy and strategy, up-skilling opportunities, and specialist support, for example financial management, governance, fundraising. Rural Partnership Plus is itself a partnership between VANL, Voluntary Action North East Lincolnshire and Humber and Wolds Rural Community Council (HWRCC have a worker Carole Johnson who provides a similar service to Groups in the East Riding).
